A survey on weight loss by white-collar women in China's urban areas by two experts from Sino-Japan Friendship Hospital said: "81% of white-collar women in China's urban areas who have tried to lose weight and who are in the process are dissatisfied with the result. Over 40% of them have made being skinnier the only goal and 89% of those women do not know how to properly lose weight." As a result, four-fifths of these women have failed to lose weight, and 50% of which have said that they are fatter than before.
11,145 women participated in this survey. The survey result shows that more than 80% of women lose weight in order to have a better-shaped body, or to find an ideal job and mate, while only 10% of them do it to improve their health.
An expert said weight loss was not successful if the lost part was protein and moisture. The weight may return when moisture returns.
The two experts said that only the loss of fat meant success in losing weight. So, they suggested monitoring the body fat ratio while trying to lose weight.
