Weight Loss Affirmations

Don't miss out on the positive effect of weight loss affirmations.

In my view, someone who is optimistic about reaching their weight loss goal is one step ahead of pessimists who doubt they will ever reach theirs.

Why does the optimist have an advantage? Viewing a goal in a positive way is empowering and energizing.

Looking at a situation in a negative way is demoralizing and ruins your motivation.

That's why I believe in the power of affirmations. An affirmation is simply a short, encouraging statement that you repeat to yourself periodically.

Weight loss affirmations keep you centered, focused, optimistic,
and motivated about your weight loss goals.

Weight loss affirmations

When used properly, affirmations can lift your mood and give you energy to continue. Affirmations give you a little boost that can help you get through hard times, set-backs, and roadblocks.

I like to start my day by repeating a few affirmations that I have written on a small index card. These include affirmations not only for weight loss, but also for other areas of my life that I am working on.

Here are some sample affirmations related to weight loss:

  • I love the food that makes me thin.

  • I can do this.

  • I choose to stay on track.

  • I love the feeling of making progress.

  • I see myself at my healthy weight and I achieve it.

  • Exercise gives me a good feeling about myself.

  • I nurture my body by living a healthy lifestyle.

  • I visualize myself fitting into smaller clothes again.

  • I am losing weight today and every day.

How to Use the Weight Loss Affirmations

If you have never tried affirmations, here are a few guidelines to follow:

  1. Repeat your affirmations often throughout the day. The more often you say them, the more you will internalize their message.

  2. Actually speak the affirmations out loud. Thinking or reading them silently has less effect.

  3. Say each affirmation with emotion and feeling.

  4. Stay with it at least 30 days to form the habit.

  5. When writing your own affirmations, use the present tense (avoid the words "will" or "should"). Also, be sure to use positive wording (avoid negative words such as "don't" or "never").

Some people do not take affirmations seriously, thinking they are merely a trick or gimmick. But the brain listens to the messages you feed it; your entire world view is the sum of how your brain interprets your experiences.

Surround yourself with encouraging, uplifting messages, and your brain will begin to see the world through that positive filter.
